Kroger Bags Efficiencies Through Deployments and Support of Supply Chain Execution Systems
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR), is one of the nation's largest grocery retailers with revenues of $60B. The Kroger Co. (Kroger) spans many states with store formats that include grocery and multi-department stores, convenience stores and mall jewelry stores. Kroger operates under nearly two dozen banners, including Fred Meyer, Dillon’s, Ralph’s, King Soopers, Smith’s, City Market and many others.
Since the late ‘90’s, Kroger placed emphasis on deploying an internally-supported Warehouse Management System (WMS). To meet supply chain objectives, Kroger needed rapid and effective deployment of it and related technologies across their North American network of distribution facilities. In 2002, TranSystems | ESYNC was engaged to provide project resources that filled the roles of Project Management, Functional and Technical Design, Testing, Training and Startup and Integration Support.
Kroger’s internal goal is for there to be no loss of productivity upon technology introductions, making each site’s go-live heavily dependent upon a solid project roadmap and thorough testing before “go-live” with the new WMS. TranSystems | ESYNC staff was engaged on several WMS conversions and performed various tasks, including leadership assignments, throughout the last four years. TranSystems | ESYNC continues to support design and development of enhancements, which are then rolled out to other sites.
Project success rate for implementations and deployments is 100%. TranSystems | ESYNC’s work with Kroger continues through the present with project team support of senior associates, depending on workload.
