Giant Foods Shop At Home Project: A Well-Received and Successful Launch
Giant Food Stores, LLC (Giant) currently operates more than 140 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the names of Giant Food Stores, Martin’s Food Markets and FoodSource. Giant has recently implemented an online shopping offering at their Camp Hill, PA store, in partnership with TranSystems | ESYNC, GSN (Grocery Shopping Network) and HighJump Software. The system allows customers to place a grocery order on-line and pick it up at the store for a small fee. Giant worked with GSN to develop the online ordering portion of the supply chain solution, and is using HighJump Software's warehouse management solution (WMS) for the fulfillment aspects of the solution. As project lead, TranSystems | ESYNC performed all of the services work necessary to configure, test and support the implementation of the WMS for use in Giant's retail outlet. A WMS is a software solution primarily used to control the movement and storage of materials and goods within a warehouse setting, not a retail store, making this project a unique application of WMS software."
