- Best practices in facility layout, processes and the use of technology separate the leaders from the wannabes in the highly competitive parcel shipping arena. How do you contain costs without sacrificing the efficiency, productivity and quality needed to differentiate your company from the competition? This session will examine parcel handling operations from order receipt to shipment, focusing on the key opportunities for performance improvement available with better layout, process fine-tuning, data capture technology, and warehouse, labor and transportation management system deployment.
Attendees will receive a course workbook including guidelines and a step-by-step approach for analysis of current metrics such as order cycle times, inventory accuracy, workforce performance and costs per order shipped in order to:
- Provide a basis for setting performance improvement targets;
- Identify the technology and systems that will facilitate improvement;
- Establish criteria for equipment and system investment justification; and,
